Manchester

First things first. I just want to make a point that I'm a Liverpool fan through and through. And Anfield is the promised land.

Now that it's out of the way, let's carry on with the post. 2 weeks ago, instead of heading for the heavens i.e. Anfield, I landed myself in Old Trafford to watch a charity match between ManUre and Euro XI. Why did I want to put myself through such an ordeal?? It's because I finally got to see my idol Steven Gerrard in action, live, in the flesh for the first time in my life!

We had to brave countless obstacles in our quest to reach our destination. (too paiseh to list them down here :P) But it was decided that no force in heaven and on earth could hinder us from reaching our target. So after the painful 4.5 hour journey with a few hiccups along the way... we arrived in Manchester!

Looks like I have jodoh with East. First, East House. Now, East Stand...
Just before kick-off. So dark...

No wonder la... forgot to turn my camera flash on. Bright view of Old Toilet. Stupid botak head.
Beckham ran onto pitch during half-time to declare his love for the Toilet.
My hing dais Keljin, Wei-Shaun and Le Hong. Couldn't have made the 4.5 hr journey without them.
Final score.
So how was the experience, all in all? It was ok, other than the fact that I was surrounded by mancs left, right, center. Stevie only came on in the second half, but that was enough for me. The way he controlled the ball, his movement on and off the ball, his dynamism, etc. etc. proved that he could easily tarpau all the other players there. But he didn't. Most of his shots were lame and passing was astray. Maybe he wanted to save his energy for Liverpool matches or maybe he had too much Red Bull vodka to drink the night before. Tipsy. hehe.
But it was one of the saddest days in my life. Everytime Gerrard, Carragher and Fowler touched the ball, they were greeted with a chorus of boos and hisses around the stadium. It hurt me so much to see the type of abuse that my heroes has to endure. I felt so.... alone... :( Everyone around me jeered whenever he missed a shot and... ok la, enough.
Oh ya you guys wanna see some videos I took?
Cristiano Ronaldo's freekick. Shame that I was blocked once the ball hit the back of the net.

Another goal. Couldn't see much of it because it was scored at the other end. End-to-end football, good stuff!
After the match, met up with life-long friend Sean Chua, whose friend knew my friends who had a friend which we stayed with. Eh? Nevermind. Matthew and Horace also joined our table to eat siew yeh at Tai Wu, a Chinese restaurant.
P.S. Two of the pics were taken from Wei-Shaun's multiply album. Credits to him!

A month of firsts

Random short post.

In the past month, for the first time in my life, I have:
  • Watched a live football match in the UK. Atmosphere was electric, shame that it was at Old Toilet.
  • Eaten rabbit meat. Wah liao, Le Hong you carnivore.
  • Supported Ferrari. Forza Raikkonen!
  • Actually studied in a library.
  • Wished that I could play some cool instrument like the sax or violin.
  • Blogged more than twice in a week.

Malaysia

Top 10 things I don't miss about Malaysia:

10. Cockroaches
9. Mosquito
8. Rats (ok ok, I'll stop with the pests)
7. Screamyx. Damn you, TMNut! I know Holborn internet isn't much better, but it sure beats the crap out of Streamyx.
6. People who cut across my car without showing signal. Wah liao, beh tahan.
5. Radio stations destroying every new release by overplaying them.
4. The fact that I fall sick more frequently back in PJ.
3. Neighbour's midnight karaoke sessions. =.= Go to KTV la, dammit! Stop killing the Beyond songs already!
2. Slow service. Restaurants, post office, supermarket cashiers - they're all more efficient here.
1. I can't reveal this one. It might get me suspended from blogging or some nonsense like that. Can the M'sian govt really track down bloggers?

Top 10 things I miss about Malaysia:
10. M'sian newspaper! Try reading Daily Telegraph everyday and you'll turn into stone.
9. The fact that I have a better sense of direction back home than in London.
8. The weather. Believe it or not. It sure beats braving the cold winter.
7. The currency! Must. resist. temptation. to. spend. when. I. get. back.
6. Astro. "Believe it or not" Mk II. :P
5. The fact that everything I want and I need is so accessible
4. All my peng you, hing tai jee mui! Even those who don't visit this damn blog!
3. Food... glorious food... especially hawker food! And cheap food!
2. Home. Family. And a room to myself. But Daryl's still a great roommate, though!

Globalisation

Today's post is a short lecture on globalisation. You know that the burgeoning role of globalisation in today's modern society is all the more evident when you see a Chinese book written by an Indian author.

Hehe. :P

Remioromen - Sangatsu Kokonaka

Nagareru kisetsu no mannaka de
Between the changing of the seasons
Futo hi no nagasa wo kanji masu
I casually feel the length of the days
Sewashiku sugiru hibi no naka ni
In the midst of these restless days
Watashi to anata de yume wo egaku
You and I paint our dreams

San gatsu no kaze ni omoi wo nosete
I can feel our love in the winds of March
Sakura no tsubomi wa haru he to tsuduki masu
As the cherry blossom buds hold out for spring

*insert emo-ing slowly-plucked guitar chords here*

Afuredasu hikari no tsubu ga
Little specs of overflowing light
Sukoshizutsu asa wo atatame masu
Warm up the morning little by little
Ookinaa kubi wo shita ato ni
After letting out a big yawn
Sukoshi tereteru anata no yoko de
I became embarrassed when I realised that you were next to me

Arata na sekai no iriguchi ni tachi
I stand on the threshold of a new world
Kiduita koto wa hitori ja naitte koto
And realise that I am not alone

*Hitomi wo tojireba anata ga
When I close my eyes
Mabuta no ura ni iru koto de
It is you whom I see behind my eyelids
Dore hodo tsuyoku nareta deshou
And it is you who has made me stronger, right?

Anata ni totte watashi mo sou de aritai
I want to be like that for you too

Suna bokori hakobu tsumuji kaze
The dusty whirlwind
Sentaku mono ni karamari masu ga
Has tangled up the laundry (wtf?)
Hirumae no sora no shiroi tsuki wa
The white moon in the early morning sky
Nan daka kirei de mitore mashita
Was so beautiful, that my eyes were transfixed upon it

Umaku wa ikanu koto mo arukeredo
Sometimes things don't go the way as I planned
Ten wo aogeba sore sae chiisa kute
But these problems fade away when I gaze at the sky

Aoi sora wa rinto sunde
The clear blue sky
Hisu ji kumo wa shizuka ni yureru
The clouds float by calmly

Hanasaku wo matsu yorokobi wo
I want to share with you
Waka chiaeru no de areba sore wa shiawase
The joy of waiting for the flowers to bloom - now that's happiness

Kono saki mo tonari de sotto hohoen de
From this moment on, I want you to be smiling next to me..

Repeat *

Translation of lyrics may be genial and corny, but I just wanted to give this shoutout to a certain someone. :)

Kena tagged

Ok Suzz, fine. You've managed to force me to actually go through the hassle of logging into blogger and updating my blog. =.= This entry might be interesting for some of you who don't know me that well, or for those who know me well but don't know/didn't notice some things about me.

RULE: Each player of the game starts off with the 10 weird things/habits/little known facts about themselves. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own 10 weird things/habits/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you must choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks!

1. I used to support Newcastle, and not Liverpool, when I was a kid. (when I was about 8-9, I think). Unbelievable mou? Well, what did I know then, huh? :P Since form1 it was Liverpool til I die, though.

2. I'm a leftie with eccentricities - I kick a football with my right foot, wear my watch on my left wrist, hold a fork with my left hand a knife with my right when eating western food.

3. I cry easily at movies when my heartstrings get pulled. I cried while watching I Not Stupid 2. How weak is that? >.<

4. I've been HTML-literate and had web-building skills since I was 11. Makes you wonder why I don't bother to beautify my blog, huh? Ahh I remember the days when me, Eong Xien and Nick Yang had this healthy cyber rivalry going on. :)

5. I used to detest Jay Chou with a passion. It was thanks to a certain someone who had this almighty influence on me that I started to appreciate his music. Glad for it, Suzz! :)

6. I actually kinda liked some of the food at The Leys. (*shock* *gasp* *horror*)

7. The first time I ever had a crush on a girl was in std 6. But once I found out that she was a vegetarian, the ratings suddenly dropped. :P

8. I have an obsession for chicken gizzard. Love it to bits.

9. I am a sucker for soppy love ballads. Especially boy-girl duets. Go listen to Zhuo Wen Xuan and Xiao Gui's "Ai De Zhu Xuan Luu"!

10. I prefer girls who have some baby fat or certain amount of chubbiness e.g. I'd go for Carrie Underwood over Jessica Alba anytime. (I know I'm weird >.<)

Wah liao...... now I tag EX, Karl, Jun Chin, Shaun, YY and Nat. Up to you if you wanna complete this lah. :P
